A Return to Tokyo Auto Salon 2020

While organizing an old hard drive, I stumbled upon a forgotten folder with over 1000 photos from Tokyo Auto Salon 2020. Held at the famous Makuhari Messe, this is Japan’s premier event for custom cars and automotive culture. Seeing these images was too good to keep to myself, so I’m sharing a gallery of my favorite shots from the show.

Incredible machines filled the display halls. They included a pristine Nissan Fairlady Z 50th Anniversary edition and the wild Liberty Walk Lamborghini Miura.

Let me know in the comments if you enjoy this style of car photography! If so, I have a follow-up post planned with photos of the models from the event.

Fujifilm X-T2 for automotive photography
For fellow photographers, this entire gallery was shot with my trusty Fujifilm X-T2 and the versatile XF 16-55mm F2.8 lens. It was my first mirrorless camera, and these photos serve as great sample images showing what that combination can do.

Since some years have passed, I’ll let the pictures of these amazing Japanese custom cars do the talking. If you want to see more about this amazing event, look at [Tokyo Auto Salon Photo Guide].
